I think you just pinpointed the problem. First you gave credit to God for scooping you out of the jaws of hell. (non-literal hell?) But then you took it all away when you blamed christians.... because it's like you think they have control or say over other's salvation. There are many things in life that will take a person's eyes off of Jesus. If christians are part of that problem...so be it...but if you believe that, then you believe we are little christian Jesus's. If you are looking to a christian, then your eyes are not on Jesus. The very same thing that some accuse christians of depending on ministers for all their spiritual needs instead of asking of their God.
We are only sinner's saved by grace...nothing more. I'm not saying that we should not ask God to help us be more like Him so we can represent Him better, just like I'm not saying you should not take biblical teaching from a minister, but it's the individual that must seek Jesus. No excuses. Jesus is already there waiting with open arms. Sometimes in life people have to fall really hard to realize no human can save them. They hope and pray there is someone powerful enough to meet their needs. And sometimes that is when they meet Jesus for the first time. Once they find Him, they realize that fall in life is the best thing that ever happened to them.
