Re: The obvious problem....

>- "I think a lot of people 'feel' they have parasites because of one symptom or another. When in actuality, it most likely isnt parasites at all."

I strongly disagree with this. It it looks like, feels like, and produces the symptoms of, it must be something else.

Really great logic. NOT!

The only reason that I was finally diagnosed properly is because I took my 3rd sample directly to the doctor and stood directly over his shoulder while he examined the slide.

He did not want to believe but in the end became very convinced. I had those parasites for over 15 years before they were diagnosed and despite all the classic symptoms, no one had even bothered to check before I insisted on it.

I know of people who have had 90 percent of their intestinal track removed a foot at a time because they had inflammation and not once did anyone ever check for parasites.

While you may be convinced otherwise, your evidence is far weaker than theirs and it is your attitude that is a major part of the problem.

__________

Since many people in the US keep dogs and dogs are major carriers and almost all dog parasites can be transmitted to humans, the US has a definite parasite problem.

__________

Also, cats and other animals carry many parasites that can be transmitted to humans. The truth is that if you have a pet in your house, then it is very likely that you have parasites.
__________

"Based on his 20 years of experience with over 20,000 patients Dr. Ross Anderson states, "Parasites are one of the most undiagnosed health challenges in the U.S. " It would seem that this would be an easy problem to diagnose and treat, truth is, its anything but easy. Parasites come in all shapes and sizes and various stages of development, and are extremely difficult to diagnose. - most lab tests miss them. Truth be told, most western Allopathic doctors are not trained to look for them, or even know what the symptoms are."

The World Health Organization has estimated that the
number of people currently infected with fish-borne trematodes exceeds 18 million (World_Health_Organization, 1995), but worldwide the number of people at risk, including those in developed countries, is more than half a billion.

I will not even mention the parasites that you can get from pork, beef, etc.

__________

The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that approximately 50 million people worldwide suffer from invasive amoebic infection each year, resulting in 40-100 thousand deaths annually (9,10).

Cryptosporidiosis is becoming most prevalent in both developed and developing countries among patients with AIDS and among children aged less than five years. Several outbreaks of diarrhoeal disease caused by C. cayetanensis have been reported during the last decade (11). Spread of these protozoan parasites in developing countries mostly occurs through faecal contamination as a result of poor sewage and poor quality of water. Food and water-borne outbreaks of these protozoan parasites have occurred, and the infectious cyst form of the parasites is relatively resistant to chlorine

In total, 203 stool samples were examined from children aged 12-60 months and found that 85.7% of them had at least on parasite.

Diagnosis of giardiasis is best accomplished by detection of Giardia antigen in stool, since the classic microscopic examination is less sensitive and specific.

Note about the Giardia antigen tests:

"For a giardia antigen test, a stool sample or fluid from the upper part of the intestines (duodenal fluid) is tested in the lab for the presence of antigens from Giardia lamblia"
