Re: Adrenal insufficiency, and many other problems. Looking for hope.

I have been researching for the last year issues with my health and my daughter's health that all circle back to the adrenals. As you may know, stress of any kind (medications, food allergies , environment, personal issues, etc...) start to overload your adrenals, which we need to survive. For example, If you are detoxing off meds, that would again be another form of stress. Adrenals pump more and more to "survive"/"out run" the current stressor. "They" do not know the difference between an allergy or medication
( for ex) causing stress versus a bear chasing one in the wild.

Today, I was researching my favorite topic, Adrenal issues and POTS. I came across something that you may find helpful.

You stated "I would get super yellow/orange on top the tan. It was like a perfect stain on my fingers, and knuckles. Then my feet started to become like that and my entire body was tan. I don't go tanning, or outside. I stayed inside and kept getting darker. The "tan" never faded."

Here is what I found on while researching on another site. It validates your symptoms and instincts about what is happening to you.

(Next 4 paragraphs-written by Lindajoy)

Lindajoy on the Dinet forum (Q-Was anyone's POTS caused by low cortisol?)
writes...
"Also, Primary Addisonians have the golden skin. This is due to ACTH. Their ACTH is actually high, causing them to go bronze. Secondary people have low ACTH, thus, their skin is a normal color.

Truly, I think the saliva tests are more indicative of adrenal issues than our conventional testing, because they can pick up sliding adrenals whereas our stim test only shows, as I said, when the adrenals are gone 90%, and this is a dangerous place to be."

She also writes..."I joined a support group out of the UK. I hate to say it, but the people in the UK know a heck of a lot more about Addison's and adrenal issues than US docs (in my opinion, what I've experienced personally).

This group I belong to is great. I asked them about the passed stim tests, and the head of the group, a guy who is a doctor of biology and an Addisonian himself, replied: When given an ACTH stim test, the idea is to stimulate the adrenal glands. Yes, if there is some life left in your adrenals, they will be stimulated, but if they are slowly burning out, they will overshoot, hence the high cortisol markers."

I hope this helps you in your pursuit to feel better. It took me over 12 years to figure out what was wrong with me (no help from Western Medicine). I am on my way to curing my issues naturally. Trust yourself and your body. You know best what you are feeling.

To all in forum... I highly recommend a book called "The Hormone Cure" by Sara Gottfried. She is a Harvard educated doctor who is a functional doctor(wholistic), as well. Cortisol is the master hormone in both men and women which controls hormones in our body. We have over 200 hormones swirling around in our bodies. She provides research based natural remedies and discusses lifestyle changes one can try to balance their hormonal health. And...yes, gentlemen, you DO have the same hormones women do, so this could be helpful to all suffering adrenal-hormonal issues(LOL). Men have more testosterone; women have more estrogem.

By the way..POTS is a syndrome that makes one dizzy, heart palps from supine to standing or vice versa, feel like your legs are made of lead, unexplained aches/pains, and a gazillion other symptoms. Common in people with hormonal imbalances.

I hope this helps:)
Best wishes-Aimee
