Another useless Doctor AND my boyfriend doesn't believe me
Hi everyone,
I've posted before but not for a while. I have several types of
parasites I've been battling, using completely essential information I've learned from CZ, for which I am very grateful.
Overall I'm making headway but I completely underestimated what I now know is a sarcoptic mite (scabies) infection. I was so preoccupied battling the tapes and other parasites; I thought I would get to the mysterious skin sores after I'd beaten down the tapes. Cr*p. What a shock.
Part of the problem for a long time was not knowing what my skin issue was; never getting a diagnosis, even after seeing four dermatologists (one shrugged, one said "
parasite psychosis", one didn't know and prescribed topical
Antibiotics ).
Meanwhile, I figured out it was scabies by looking at CZ and photos and descriptions online. I went to the fourth dermatologist expecting he would recognize it, especially since he was the head of the skin department at the local hospital with an alphabet of degrees after his name.
I was a week into a protocol I've been trying to eradicate the mites when I saw this dept. head. My protocol has caused die off and and to my shock I'd gotten a massive itchy rash pretty much everywhere, overnight, and an explosion of scabies welts, worse on my torso, arms and legs, composed of dead and dying larvae and some adult mites, clearly visible. (Yes, folks, also some typical "C" and "S" shaped patterns of scabies welts.) The kind of mites I have are large and are also permethrin resistant.
The head of the hospital skin depart. said it was
Psoriasis and gave me a steroid cream prescription which I knew not to use from reading on here which said steroids would aggravate the mites and increase their activity.
I was terribly disappointed that he did not recognize the scabies pattern and obvious dead mites and larvae on my skin but I knew better than to describe them or point them out. Docs only think its "
parasite psychosis" if you do. To his credit he may not have seen a radical die off like this before but he was an old guy with experience...I just don't know. Baffling.
So that is the end of doctors for me. I will continue with the scabies protocol I'm trying which seems to be working so far and will report back if it's successful or not.
The problem I have now (other than the hideous itching of the die off which is much worse than the itching of the live mites), is that my boyfriend does not believe me-he only wants to believe the doctor and he's giving me flack for doing a protocol based on the evidence of my own eyes. He also insists that he himself is not infected.
Well (sadly) I'm pretty sure that he is. What I have appears to have been on the verge of tipping over into crusted scabies, judging from the coverage and severity of the die off. He has been exposed. I had no idea I was so infected.
What is SO weird is this infection was mostly not visible until I started to kill it-seems the few welts I had were the tip of the iceberg. It's amazing to me I had this much
parasite load in my skin that I didn't know about. Currently, I'm also having problems with them in my eyes, ears and nose.
My boyfriend works out of town and has not seen what this die off looks like as I started the protocol while he was away.
The more I read the more I think it's possible a lot of people are carriers of a few mites, perhaps they could be quite common, but maybe scabies does not develop into a full scale infection unless there is an immune deficiency or some kind of imbalance. Even stress could do it, which is what I believe happened to me. I think it is highly possible my boyfriend is a carrier of mites even if he has not broken out with the infection. I wish he would believe me. Not only does it look like I won't be able to treat him, but what if he re-infects me?
I'm hurting, I'm itching, I feel bad about my boyfriend and I can't sleep. The only thing I can do is battle on, cling to my protocol and hope to get better.
Thanks for reading all this. Sorry it's so long.
