Maybe the flora has a certain set of bacteria that it recognizes and accepts. So, kefir is considered foreign and the body doesn't accept and excretes it quickly. I think most agree that the hope with kefir or any other probiotic is that it pushes back the bad enough to let the good thrive. Just my thoughts.
