Re: Some belief systems..

"Also it's not a matter of "good or bad. it's a matter of harmony vs disharmony. I think consciousness may prefer harmony, especially if the experiential aspect of this is fleshed out, literally, in terms of pain and pleasure."

I think of it more in terms of balance, rather than harmony or disharmony. After all what is pain for one can be pleasure for another.

I do realise that we make judgements about everything, maybe I should have been more specific, and said 'moral judgements', which rely totally on our perceptions of certain acts, what is bad for one can be good for another, or indeed have no moral value to another. IMHO the only moral judgements we make, should only be applied to ourselves. I am as guilty as anyone else of making moral judgements of others based on my own beliefs, but I am working on this. Getting smug selfrightousness out of my life is an ongoing battle.

Rather than pass moral judgement on others beliefs and acts, IMHO it is better to accept that these beliefs and acts are just not for me.
