Re:Article on the Islam Forum
I did go and read some of your post. It just reinforces my own opinions.
Your points:
1:you please Allah
My opinion: If Allah truly cared for me he would not care what I wear..
2. It is Allah’s protection of your natural beauty. You are too precious to be "on display" for each man to see.
My opinion: Why did allah make us beautiful if not for desire? Men are desirable to woman too, so why not hide them under a burka?
3. It is Allah’s preservation of your chastity.
My opinion: Why does allah care about woman's chasity? Is it somehow bad to not be a virgin and why would it be bad? Why does allah not care about a man's chastity?
4. Allah purifies your heart and mind through the hijaab.
My opinion: If that were so I would wear one to sleep. Maybe I would wake up feeling good in the morning.
5. Allah beautifies your inner and outer countenance with hijaab. Outwardly your hijaab reflects innocence, purity, modesty, shyness, serenity, contentment and
obedience to your Lord. Inwardly you cultivate the same.
My opinion: What defines innocence? Chastity? Why is shyness a plus? I am shy and would prefer not to be. I don't find it to be a strong trait.
6. Allah defines your femininity through the hijaab. You are a woman who respects her womanhood. Allah wants you to be respected by others, and for you to respect yourself.
My opinion: I respect my womanhood, I believe, more than a person who wears a hijaab. Why I have to wear an inanimate object to feel respected doesn't make sense to me. I suppose when I am born without the cloth, I am worth nothing....Not. I am glad that allah wants me to respect myself...just don't get why I have to cover myself to do it.
7. Allah raises your dignity through the hijaab. When a strange man looks at you, he respects you because he sees that you respect yourself.
My opinion: You already in your first post disproved this point.
8. more of the same
9. Allah gives you nobility through the hijaab. You are noble not degraded because you covered not naked. Allah demonstrates your equality as a Muslim woman through the hijaab. Your Lord bestows upon you equal worth as your male counterpart, and gives you a host of beautiful rights and liberties. You express your acceptance of these unique rights by putting on the hijaab.
My opinion: Why is nakedness such a crime? Nobility comes from within, NOT from what you wear. If it was equal, a man would be wearing the same, and so would Allah. Why does not anyone address this point? It would be nice to be equal to a man in today's society, but I don't know of a country where that is true. In my country, stats say that I am earning 30 cents less than a man in the same profession. It used to be blamed on the fact that woman don't work as many full time jobs. But now that woman have to work fulltime to support their children, the stats have not changed.
I could go on, but it is just more of the same. The hijaab was just created for man to lock their woman away, while they go enjoying life's pursuits. They were/are just too insecure to handle a woman with convictions and passions. They fear woman and their own feelings, so they created this stuff to passify a woman. To believe all of this islam quotes is the same as to say because I don't follow them that I don't respect myself, don't deserve respect, and should expect every man to lear at me and rape me.
Try reading Terry Goodkind's books. They are fictional, but they are about the imperial order which discribes how people become indocrinated into an order. It is very interesting how he describe how people can't understand how another can believe what to them is crazy, and how another person will argue and explain how it comes about.
Best of luck to you.
