Re: The Veil

"Further let me say that women in Islam to not talk to men other than thru business or a medical reason so if anyone told me I will not talk to you unless you uncover, I would turn and not talk. I am doing all this for Allah not for the pleasure of any man."

Just so you know, I am a woman, not a man. That you would choose to remain covered and not speak to me...so be it, I am just saying that to me it is a sign of disrespect. It is sad to me that the result of your meeting this man makes you afraid, instead of angry. And if you wear the veil, and it still happens, perhaps it would just be best for you to stay in your house, hidden away. That way you will be as safe as you can be.

You say we may not understand another person's religion but with knowledge maybe we can be tolerant. In my country, my opinion is that people/government have become over-tolerant to the point where my country's values and morals are being undone by other people's religions/cultures, and are becoming second to them or lost to them. To wear a burka or cover over the face of a woman, in my view, just demeans all the strides that woman have made to gain rights and worth in my society. I believe that my country should change its laws to disallow the wearing of the burka to conform with the morals of our society. Any person that doesn't want to follow that rule can go or stay to where the wearing of the burka is acceptable.
