Re: Water fasting & Coffee? (day 4 of ???)

Actually, I seldom drink coffee so there's no coffee addiction here and I do get the energy boost I'm looking for. Notice - I said coffee – black and I also I labeled this thread Water Fasting & Coffee. I did not say "energy drink" as that has sugar, carbs and other substances.

Coffee by itself is perfect: zero carbs, zero calories, zero fat and zero sugar. Caffeine does provide energy by stimulating the effects of two hormones: adrenaline and glucagon. So the body is energized from caffeine. When the body has depleted all short-term sources of energy through fasting (not starving) it will then turn to fat; that’s the purpose of fasting. Drinking coffee in no way diminishes the body’s response to fasting by turning to fat and other sources in the body for energy because there is nothing for the body to gain from coffee itself. The only benefit is as I’ve stated above.

I’ll agree I’m definitely not doing the water-only diet because I’m cheating with coffee – only when I’m drinking it, that is. Earlier in this thread I believe I very clearly stated my reasons for trying this method and how and when I plan on drinking coffee.

I appreciate the feedback, although I am looking for more constructive input and feedback rather than just criticism.

I’m curious, how many of you broke your fasting (or caved in) on a day when you found yourself low on energy and/or you felt hungry? I have – many times. Could you have gone longer to gain more benefits from fasting had you not felt tired or hungry?

To realize the full health benefits of fasting you’d have to go the full distance – 30 days. After day 10 and on through day 30 is when the greatest potential for health benefits is realized. But what if you never make it past day 10 or day 15?

So you’d have to weigh the cost/benefit factor here: drink 1 cup of coffee to help you through that low-energy day and maintaining your fast in order to gain the benefits that can only be gained from day 10 through 30 or just cave in like you may have in the past and never fully realize the full potential benefits that are reserved for those who actually make it to day 30?
