Re: Jesus Prays for His Disciples

Thank you for sharing your story. You sound like a person with very deep feelings and compassion but may I ask if you feel the need to be sorrowful most of the time? Does God not bless you with overwhelming joy to balance out the sorrows and injustice you witness or do you feel your calling is to grieve for our world?

John 16:20 I tell you the truth, you will weep and mourn while the world rejoices. You will grieve, but your grief will turn to joy. A woman giving birth to a child has pain because her time has come; but when her baby is born she forgets the anguish because of her joy that a child is born into the world. So with you: Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy. In that day you will no longer ask me anything. I tell you the truth, my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete.

My sorrows are purged each time I pray. I leave them at the feet of Jesus and go into the world to serve humanity because I know that is what Jesus would do. If I was sorrowful all the time, I would be afraid of transfering that sorrow to people already suffering. Jesus had compassion for people and they felt His love for them but He also shared His joy so people would have hope.
