I'm sure you suffered a horrible relationship. For that I am sorry. People can be horrible to each other.

But, with all due respect. It is not OK to hit anyone. Never.

It is tantamount to saying "She made me do it"...."If she hadn't been the way she was, I wouldn't have had to hit her"....

I'm sorry, but I need to say this and make it very clear. It's what my ex-husband used to say to me constantly as he was hitting me....."If only you weren't ______"...and see the comments above. Yep, I got that all the time.

And while I was sitting at home waiting for him to come home with the next wave of shock and awe, he was out with our friends telling them what a crazy bitch I was!

I think that you should work on that issue. It could (very well may) happen again.
