if you Water Fast only, for a long enough period of time, and with adequate rest, you MAY not even need the hernia op' as there is great deal of healing that takes place while doing so.......

Glad to hear that you are not dehydrated, but be careful not to consume too much water: be guided by thirst, but at least a pint of water per day should be adequate. During my own extended fasts, some days I only consumed less than half a pint which was more than enough for me.
