Re: surgeon advised to go on a water fast

The general rule for refeeding from a fast is to stick to raw food as much as possible for the amount of days you fasted for. I have found that eating fruit and juices only for half that period works very well, and makes sure that the system is functioning normally again before anything heavier is added. I then add a meal of salad each day and gradually add very small amounts of cooked food to the salads until the time is up.

I personally wouldn't eat a cooked only meal until the full recovery period was up. This seems to fit in with the time period your doctor gave you also. At the end of the full recovery time would be the time to add any large amounts of cooked food, including of course fish or chicken. Being a vegetarian myself I would certainly not recommend ever eating them again though. :p

This is the way I break my fasts, others may find other ways that work for them. It is very much based on Natural Hygiene which is worth reading up about if you don't already know a lot about 'clean eating'.

Andrew.
