There were a dozen or so successful cataract reversal eyedrops
developed since 1960, backed by solid research. Most had demonstrated safety and effectiveness in vitro, and one has done so in human clinical trials.
The researchers who made these discoveries were chemists, biochemists and biophysicists from world-renowned universities. Interestingly, ophthalmologists were hardly ever involved in the development of these eyedrops. The result is that surgery is the only option we have to deal with cataract today.
In one Internet forum, when somebody else complained about the current situation, a cataract surgeon replied, "No one is forcing you to have cataract surgery". No? Well, if all the other alternative treatments were never implemented, and we refuse surgery, then what other choice do we have? Partial or total blindness?
If that isn't equivalent to "forcing us to have surgery" - then I don't know what is!

    I'm sorry, but you miss the point. Cataract surgery should not be the only option because nonsurgical means of reversing cataract existed in the past, and others exist today. They are just not available. Therefore patients must undergo the surgery, or face progressive loss of vision ending in blindness.

        Yes. It is a business. This is all the more frustrating because there are several new techniques that can reverse cataracts, even advanced cataracts, within a matter of weeks without surgery. They were either successful in human clinical trials, or successful in animals but not yet tested in humans. I suggest that we find ophthalmologists who would like to expedite clinical trials of nonsurgical cataract treatments so that patients no longer have to rely solely on surgery. But are there any ophthalmologists who would like to do that? We could point out that the new treatments themselves will generate new sources of revenue for health providers.

Recently, I read that pyruvate eyedrops have been used as an "ocular penetration agent" to treat some eye conditions. This suggests that pyruvate could be used as a vehicle for rosmarinic acid to treat cataract.
Moreover, pyruvate alone is reported to prevent experimental cataracts, due either to UV radiation or diabetes. This could be a great combination. However, pyruvate eyedrops are apparently not
commercially available.

        So have you had it done yet Zztop ? I'm not sure they have healing products -that work- hidden (for the sake of making money) as thought or said by a number of people... I ended up believing it wasn't right, and that there would be a real will too to make it happen if there were possibilities to avoid surgery (but that there wasn't still)... My case was getting too bad, and it was dangerous to go on like this. I had come across an ophthalmologist that had had cataract surgery done for him, and that helped taking the step too I believe. I went to the hospital (he sent me there) as things appeared to be suitable enough. Where I live in Europe I had it done for free and it wasn't too bad ; I can see better than before surgery - but it's not as 'good' as it was before I started loosing some vision - (however at night it's good, even better than it had ever been I believe, but daylight and reading are not good enough, especially reading which is very disappointing)...But I had a terrible vision since I was born anyway, so not significant for most many I guess ! The good thing, I don't have to wear spectacles (or contact lenses) to get nearer far-vision-level I used to have in my better days (with glasses), as I now have 'onboard' lenses for that... But not able to read even with glasses is a bummer (I need a magnifying glass for usual typed letters from magazines, ordinary books, and smaller)... Still good to have had it done. It could have been better but that will do (it has to)...Had to withstand quite an ordeal however.

      Surgery: A minimum of $3,000 per eye for surgery, plus the drops you have to keep putting in your eyes because they get so dry as a result of surgery, plus the subsequent doctors visits, and if you have complications ... let's not even go there.
      A Doctor I saw in Los Angeles charged a mere $14,000 for both eyes.

Despite many successful non-surgical treatments developed by biochemists unconnected with the eye profession over the last 100 years, they have been deliberately forgotten. This has made it possible for the eye profession to treat all these discoveries merely as objects of academic interest, to brainwash the world that cataract surgery is the only effective treatment for cataract, and to make people believe that their natural lens is not worth saving. But in this Forum, there are people who don't believe this cruel lie. They know their natural lens is worth saving, and won't accept the inhumane idea that cataract surgery should be the only option available to the world population.
Still, it is very difficult for us to fight back. We are fighting a profession which, although entrusted by the world with the mission of saving human sight, is bent on the destruction of a critical part of the human eye - the natural lens - and its replacement by an inferior plastic copy. It is moreover a profession which considers that every human being must eventually succumb to that destruction. And unlike them, we have no resources to implement the breakthroughs achieved by biochemists in the past which would have enabled us to save the natural lens.
This is analogous to the story of David and Goliath in the Bible. David is cataract patients the world over, and Goliath is the eye profession - just as big, and just as powerful. Goliath wants to cut on David's eyes, or else let David go blind. David is weak and powerless. Now, David needs the 'stone' (anti-cataract eyedrops) developed by biochemists to throw at Goliath, so that David can defeat Goliath, and regain his sight.

From the literature on the Net, we see that VITAMIN B2 (riboflavin) and VITAMIN B3 (niacin) may improve vision in cataract patients, sometimes within a few days.
But please note: There are also warnings that taking more than 10mg of Vitamin B2 per day may make vision worse. This is because Vitamin B2 (the yellow B vitamin) also has a 'photosensitizing effect', generating ROS (free radicals) upon exposure to blue light that would worsen cataract symptoms. What can we do to get the benefits of B2 without the disadvantages? I am just guessing - but maybe, if we invest in a pair of good eyeglasses with blue-blocking lenses, then, we would get less exposure to blue light and hence, we could then take more Vitamin B2 for its cataract reversal properties - up to 50mg per day - and get an improvement in vision. For the moment, I cannot afford blue-blocker eyeglasses and so I cannot test this out. Therefore, I am restricting intake of Vitamin B2 supplements to 10mg/day.
As for Vitamin B3 (niacin), I recommend getting it from food rather than supplements, which can have side-effects. I think we can get enough of it by consuming kale.
