5 days post cleanse

My mind and body are functioning so much better with nutrition, giving me a relaxed and content mental state, and the energy to continue to make healthy changes.

Oh my god, the vegetable soup that Seunim posted is SOOOO good. I thought maybe it just tasted so heavenly because I hadn't eaten in so long, but my b/f confirmed that it is AWESOME. I also made the pistou and put a spoonful in my bowl and it really does add wonderful flavor. We've been working on it since Monday night and I still have about half a pot left. It's delicious and very satisfying, I'm really glad I decided to go all out and make it from scratch.

I started making green smoothies on Tuesday. Yesterday (being my first time trying it) it left a lot to be desired. I used baby spinach and some endive for greens, blended up with some water, and added in a small pear, half a banana, and some defrosted frozen berries. I did not like the pear in there at all. Today I tweaked it and it's much better. I blended the endive with orange juice instead of water, put my Greens + in there and added some honeydew and berries and added in some of Dr. Budwig's "spread" (cottage cheese blended with flax oil and honey). I am still trying to figure out more ways that I can use the spread - if anyone has any ideas or suggestions, I'm open to it! I was looking for more ways to incorporate flax oil into my diet, and I like cottage cheese, so it sounded like a good idea. I'm still getting used to the taste. I think next time I might use a little less flax oil.

I've been getting up a little early and making everything that I'm going to take to work that day. So far that's been my green smoothie, a thermos of fresh juice (varies depending on what I feel like putting in), some yogurt smoothie, some store bought kefir until I get my own grains, and fresh fruit. And dinner has been the soup. I'm looking forward to having some nice salads and making my own dressing.

It's so much easier when you have everything planned out for the day and ready to go. And I think it's an integral piece in making sure that I eat more often throughout the day. Soon I'll start adding oatmeal back in (figured I can put some of the flax spread in there) and I'll make a batch of granola bars to keep at my desk, along with making sure that I always have fresh fruit on hand.

I've gotten in some exercise the past few days. My boyfriend and I currently go to different gyms and we're trying to find one that we both like to join so we can work out together. My workout routine much more stable once that happens.

My digestive system seems to have responded very well to eating again. I have not had any negative reactions at all and my eliminations are stable and consistent (more than I could say before doing the MC!). In fact, since I've started eating again, I felt better and more alive than I did at any time during the cleanse. I am happier, more energetic, not freezing all the time, and much less irritable. I realized that the cleanse was very hard on my body. I feel much better eating light healthy food. I do feel that my body is working more efficiently now due to the cleanse though.

One negative of being done with the MC is that I'm not sleeping as well again. It takes me longer to fall asleep and I don't sleep as deeply. I've always been a light sleeper, so the deep sleep that came with the cleanse was very welcome! My b/f is not sleeping as well either now, due to my tossing and turning again. Without my saying anything about how I was sleeping better during the MC, he said that since I had been fasting he had been sleeping better. Funny how my fast could affect him in that way!

I'm very happy with where I am right now. I feel empowered to continue to do things to better my health.
