3rd day post cleanse
Ahh, how I've missed juicing!! And tonight is veggie soup night :)
Date: 6/25/2007 9:32:09 AM ( 17 y ) ... viewed 2094 times So Saturday was orange juice day! It was SOOO delicious. I savored every little sip. I added in a little lemon and lime to make it like Five Alive (too bad that juice is not around anymore, it was so good). Against recommendation, I decided to start the colon cleanse on Friday. I figured that everything has been all softened up by the cayenne pepper and is just waiting to be sloughed off my interior walls. Well, the Colosan definitely works. I think I got more junk out using the laxative tea though. The results of the Colosan was very much like the SWF. Except that all day Saturday I was passing the orange juice that I was drinking, which I figured is not a good thing. After all, I need my body to start absorbing nutrients. So the colon cleanse right after the MC was a short lived experiment. However, it seems like my digestion/elimination is getting back on track pretty quickly. Yesterday evening I actually had a small amount of solids come out (and this is with no Colosan or laxative tea or anything).
Yesterday I started juicing some more fruit in addition to the oranges - apples, pineapple, honeydew. And I had my favorite juice shake, which is a frozen banana blended with fresh honeydew juice. So good!! Last night I made the stock for my veggie soup. Looking forward to making the soup tonight and having a little bit of solid food. FYI for anyone thinking of making this soup (the recipe that Seunim posted) - buying all of those ingredients to do the whole thing from scratch is not cheap! I knew that it wouldn't be, but I wanted to treat myself to something really delicious and healthy after my 3 week fast. And I have really enjoyed making it. I missed cooking a lot.
My energy is still lagging. Yesterday I went to the gym and did the minimal amount. Just walking around for the rest of the day was difficult. I am so unbelievably weak. I'm looking forward to getting some energy and strength back. My b/f had to help me up the stairs!
So things are going pretty well so far post cleanse. I checked my weight yesterday just to see what the final numbers were. Overall I lost about 9 pounds and 4% body fat. On my body, that's very good. If I can maintain the majority of that loss I will be in good shape.
It's funny, I have been craving absolutely everything bad for me for the last 3 weeks, and now that I'm getting to where I can eat again, I don't want to put bad stuff in my body. I see the overall results from the cleanse, and I feel great, and I really want to keep that feeling. I am stocked up with fruit for the rest of the week, and have ingredients to make one of the raw soups that Pepe posted. I have plenty of things to make fresh juice and I'll try out my first green smoothie tomorrow. My kefir grains should be coming in a couple of days, so soon I will add that to me nutritional arsenal.
All in all, I can say that this cleanse was not easy for me, but I am very glad that I chose to do it and to do it for the amount of time that I did. It really does give you a new lease on life if you use it as a springboard to make healthy changes.
