Days 4, 5 and 6
HOT cayenne and food aroma addicition :)
Date: 6/8/2007 9:25:15 AM ( 17 y ) ... viewed 2325 times By day 4 I was feeling pretty much normal. The headachey detox symptoms from days 2 and 3 had completely subsided (yay!). I went back to Whole Foods after work to try and find some better cayenne. They are still completely out of stock. So I checked out what they had in capsules. I found some 100,000 HU caps without any additives. I figured that had to be better than the McCormick stuff I was using. Wooooo boy, is it hot! I initially tried putting in one cap per 10 oz. of lemonade, but it was WAY too much. As much as people warn against dumping your cayenne into your day's batch of lemonade, it just works better for me. It mixes in much better that way - it was very clumpy by the glass. I put about 5 caps per 6 servings of lemonade. I think this cayenne is really stirring some things up in my body. I started to get some pretty intense abdominal cramping yesterday evening (day 5). I could almost imagine that some of the old gunk in my system was loosening up. The cramps were really kicking in when I woke up this morning and I had to rush to the bathroom. Got some more stuff out than I have the past few days. Good to know I'm getting some of the old decay out of my body. Yesterday I finally made it out for a walk. I walked for about an hour after work and felt fine. I took a tablespoon of the blackstrap molasses before heading out. I took it straight but it's a bit too much for me, due to its very strong flavor. I might try it next time mixed in with hot water instead. I feel like my body is ready to do a bit more vigorous exercise, perhaps some rollerblading or some cardio on the elliptical machine at the gym. Unfortunately, we've had a lot of afternoon/evening rain here in Florida, so sometimes it can be hard to exercise outside, which is what I would prefer to do. It's Day 6 today and I'm surprised that my body seems to still be about the same. My clothes fit a tad bit better, but I would think that taking in less than 600 calories a day for 5 straight days would have more of a profound effect. I figured my clothes would be falling off of me by now! Granted, I'm not doing this to lose weight, but I did think that it would be a pretty noticeable side effect of fasting. Luckily no one at work has asked about the weird gallon jug I have on my desk or what is the strange liquid that I'm drinking throughout the day! As far as food cravings go, evening is definitely the worst. That's when I've always had my biggest/tastiest meal of the day (as I usually don't eat very much during the daytime). I miss planning and cooking meals with my boyfriend when we get home from work. He had hamburgers last night, which weren't very appetizing to me, but his roommate cooked a frozen pizza and the smell of the dough baking was DIVINE!! I'm getting to the point that I'm enjoying just smelling food. I know at this point that I'd be in pain if I ate though, which helps make me more content just to sniff. :) This morning I was driving to work and I was at a stoplight across the street from Denny's. I could smell bacon and hashbrowns like there was a plate of it in front of me. I took a nice long whiff of that. I very rarely if ever have food like that for breakfast, but it was a comforting aroma this morning. Today I mixed up the lemonade a bit and did half and half maple syrup and blackstrap molasses. Rather than putting in 3/4 c. of syrup I've only been putting in 1/2 c. since day 3. I thought that all of the water and lemon juice and the maple would dilute the flavor of the molasses more, but it really hasn't. I don't think I'll make it this way again. It's not terrible, but there's no hiding the flavor of that molasses!
Right now I'm not sure how long I'm going to go. My day 10 will be on a Tuesday, so I was thinking of at least extending it through that weeking and maybe ending it next Friday, so I can juice oranges at home on Saturday and cook soup on Sunday. That's the short term goal. Longer term goal is 21 days. Honestly, I don't really enjoy the lemonade, but I know it's my only form of nutrition, so I just get it down. It's not terrible, just not enjoyable. The rest of it is easy though. Hope all is going well with the other cleansers out there!
