also OPTIMAL as well.
Laxative teas help move the old fecal debris and toxins the Master Cleanse
lemonade loosens up. The tea is generally drunk just before
bed although some also opt to use it in the morning instead of doing
the Salt Water Flush. Depending on steeping times, it can produce some
cramping but through experimentation, one can easily adjust the strength
so that cramping can be avoided.
Below you will find a selection of the assortment of laxative teas available
in the United States. I am not aware of the ones available elsewhere but
assume Senna could be found in any good herbal or health food shop. Add
a spoon of maple syrup if desired and enjoy!

Senna Leaf Laxative Formula
Elimination is a vital function of the digestion system and any disturbance
in its natural cycle can bring on distress. In traditional Eastern and Western
folk medicine, the leaves and pods of Senna (a member of the pea family) were

Smooth Move

Senna leaf, as a laxative herbal tea ingredient has at least a one thousand
year history of human use in traditional Arabian, Asian and European herbal medicines. Today senna leaf preparations are approved for use as laxatives
in the national pharmacopoeias and formularies of China, France, Germany,
Great Britain, India, Japan, Switzerland, and the United States. Senna's
laxative action is largely attributed to its anthranoid content. Anthranaoids
are compounds naturally occurring in many plant laxatives, including aloe, buckthorn, sacara sagrada, rhubarb, and senna.
Senna is an herbaceous low branching shrub native to Southern India
(Tinnevelly district of Madras) and to the semidesert Nile region of
northern Africa (Egypt, Sudan) and is now mostly cultivated in China,
India and Pakistan. The yellowish-green to pale olive leaflets are
hand-collected, dried and graded 3-5 months after planting.
In our Smooth Move ® tea, we use only pharmacopoeial grade senna leaf
containing the required level of its stimulant laxative active constituents
known as hydroxyanthracene glycosides(sennosides A & B).
