Conclusion of my 2015 Summer Fast
Wrapping up my 2015 Summer Fast
Date: 2/24/2015 11:34:50 PM ( 9 y ) ... viewed 8707 times It's the 25th Feb today, I started my fast originally on the 12th of Jan & wrapped it up around the 40 day mark with a transition period of starting to eat small amounts of solids from the 29th onward with some days on some days off. On day 40 I was beginning to get accustomed to eating smaller amounts of healthy foods & I began the big lifestyle change I'm now undertaking to adopt a 1:1 Intermittent Fast Lifestyle. Day 40 went really well - I clocked in my first eating day learning to make healthy & lovely things that all came in under 500 cals for the whole of the day. I'm on the 2nd "fast" day now after a weekend of travel & loads of work that didn't allow for me to really do a "fast" day. Today's going really well - I'm tired from all the work & travel last weekend, only got home early monday evening & yesterday was another busy day with lots of driving and not home till after dark so today I'm here again, with all that behind me & it's now 4PM & I'm enjoying a restful day cooking "fast" day foods, cleaning the kitchen, returning the lost dog I rescued off the highway to his owner, lol & working on translating the Buddhist Teachings I finished transcribing last week.
I do get hungry on this diet so far - I am only on the 2nd day of it though so I may adjust to this - it's not a bad thing though, it's mild hunger no doubt due to eating such a lo cal diet that day, I can really feel it inducing weight loss & that's a rewarding kind of feeling, also knowing that it's only for one day at a time, makes it pretty easy. Today I made up a pasta sauce - I had got a big bag of tomatoes at the supermarket for only $2 - whenever this happens I make pasta sauce from scratch, so I did this sauce with lots of veggies, some lean grass fed beef because it's about to be that time of the month again lol & it all worked out to be only 73 cal per 100g, had these shirataki noodles I've had stashed away for just such an occasion & that made a lovely lunch all coming in about 135 calories. Going to make cauliflower "rice" with a few other veggies thrown in & a couple grilled strips of chicken breast for tea - this with 50g of apple & a cup of tea with healthy sweetener & skim milk powder for brekkie will leave me enough calories left over for another couple milky hot drinks & possibly some lo cal popcorn. Got badly constipated again passing very hard stuff a 2nd time on Sunday, I'm a lot better now but still sore from that and passing regularly but still a little on the hard side -- never had this happen before fasting or coming off a fast - I don't know if it was just a big lack of fiber when I did start eating or elimination of really old stuck matter going on from the fast itself - I hope I haven't made things difficult by my use of enemas but they haven't been very frequent in general, only probably did a series of cleansing enemas less than once a week while fasting - didn't use laxatives at all until I became constipated the first time & then again this time but these also very sparingly... Not sure what to do but have started the old apple a day rule, and yesterday - how timely, the friend I drove so far to visit gave me a whole coffee jar full of stewed plums which I will eat every other day with some yogurt etc - might be worth adding some psyllium to my diet again, it's always felt like a good thing in the past. I don't want my body to familiarise itself with negative patterns like constipation - no, no, not good - so I'll be careful to take some right foods to clear this up quickly and try and do something next time I do a liquid only fast like incorporate some psyllium etc. Not sure if enemas are really to blame for any of this & a little concerned about them though I've always really enjoyed using them from time to time. Maybe I should give them a break for awhile - as I said, it's not something I do very often at any rate, maybe used them four or five times in 40 days of liquid fasting so could that cause dependance or etc???
More likely I just slowed my digestion right down & was without enough fibre in my system to push things through. Well - fasting is always a little different & no 2 of my fasts have been the same to date. I guess I'm wrapping up this blog now - a good diary of another successful fast. It went really well, think I did the longest ever not eating anything this time round, and felt all in all very grounded & stable & well on this journey. I might do a few more liquid days before the weather gets cold again - it'll only be short though, maybe 11 days max sort of thing, what I am going to do is stick to this 1:1 lifestyle change now so 2015 is the year for beginning & staying with a big change for my ongoing well being & health - still have pounds to shed, I probably got 1/2 way with the fasting, I might start a new blog about the 1:1 Diet to keep track of how that goes :)
Best of luck to all you fasters & dreamers out there reading!
