17 Days & Counting...
Day 17 of my 2015 Fast
Date: 1/28/2015 1:35:07 AM ( 9 y ) ... viewed 983 times Getting towards sunset on the 17th day of my fast. I've just returned home an hour or so ago from the city & another big drive - it was an action packed 5 days there - a long weekend of Buddhist Teachings, a party with friends the night before Invasion Day, a bit of retail therapy at a big sale in the city center buying some cushions and lanterns etc, then a catch up with one of my Bali family members who was briefly in the country & whom I hadn't seem for about 18 months!
Then my bf got to town on the Tuesday morning, we did a bit of a shop, had some car wobbles - got an awesome new octave splitter for his show that night & the the 17th birthday of the Make It Up Club gig - packed house & my bf carving it up hardcore - brought a new housie of ours out to the show & caught up with some crew there also - next morning my partner went to pick up a truckload or art and rare handmade instruments being donated to the art & culture foundation he's the president of, bought another case of coconut water as I'd been living off it over the 5 days & had pretty much consumed it all & off --- he's now at work & I'm home with my darling cat saying sorry I was gone so long again & watching the sunset.
The fast is going well, I've had a lot of big sleeps & waking up with a white tongue - bought some cilantro while I picked up the coconut water & will do another coffee enema series tomorrow as I couldn't do anything like that whist in town - I'm only here for tonight & 2 days then back to the city ridiculously late Friday night for the conclusion of the Buddhist teachings over next weekend!! I'll be kind of glad when it's all over & I'm able to come back home for a couple or few weeks - it's a bit of a lively schedule this fortnight :)
I kept up some exercise while I was away, took my yoga mat & kettlebell with me & did one really good yoga session on the friday and some kettlebell throws everyday, bit of walking on the sunday night - the rest of the weekend was pretty much too busy. Going to do a little bushwalk now and another yoga session tomorrow though before the enemas.
Fasting has been a bit tough - by about Sunday I really started thinking about having a mid fast meal - something I have done a lot in the past, getting to about the 2 week mark & then having a sort of soup or rice and something slowly over a couple of days before going back to fasting. I avoided the temptation this year, not that it would be any big deal, just enjoyed pushing on and having the ability to push past the desire etc or any interruption. The idea is still with me though - it's hard to shake at the moment, I had about 6 spoonfuls of my boyfriends pad thai on tuesday spaced out over a couple hours & a few times during this fast I've eaten a pickled radish or a few pickled carrots that I bottled up before the fast started. Stuff I lacto-fermented in whey drained from kefir I make with himilayan salt & water - that's been very minimal but it really satisfies any craving and perhaps gives me a few probiotics and a bit of salt. It wasn't enough to disrupt my fast - now I'm back home that makes it easier as I have a lot of different teas, kombucha I've made, coconut water, kefir - etc - perhaps I'll do some juicing but I haven't got ingredients for that at the moment - don't really crave sweet things much as most of my drinks are kind of sweet - its more savoury things that I end up craving - pickle juice is the most amazing thing when you kit a lull or a craving in a fast - so full of mineral salts and electrolytes & savory, incredible for picking you up.
I don't feel bursting with energy at this stage of the fast - kind of floating through, feel fairly normal though from time to time I see the fast effecting me in having to be more relaxed, take it easier eg, sleep longer hours & just be gentle with myself.
I have a desire to go longer than before & a lot of weight I'd still like to shed - really thinking about going forward past 40 days to 60 or 90 this time - if the fast gets tough I can alternate a bit with some juicing which I don't tend to do a lot of very often when fasting - sometimes I incorporate it for awhile - also playing with the idea of just very slowly integrating simple foods - maybe after a time doing a small meal once a week sort of thing - when the fast ends I like the idea of just continuing a partial liquid fast with one meal per day for awhile as that in itself after a long fast will be very easy & very enjoyable and help me continue towards weight & health goals. After that I want to really change my lifestyle and adopt every other day intermittent fasting pretty much indefinitely which was the idea last year before that feind attacked me & through my life into chaos for awhile. People sigh, some of them really take a special skill to love... wrathfully hahaha. Bastard. Oh well, it's a plain fact that karma is a bitch!
Hoping my desires settle down over the next couple days at home & I can get through all this travel and city stuff without breaking my fast with any substantial (which at this stage would be very mouse sized) solid food - if I do eat something next weekend though, I'm determined to just continue anyway... So in that sense, it doesn't really matter. All for today, going for a walk while the sun's still out :)
Good Luck to all you Fasters & Self Doc's
