"Unlearning" indoctrination is spiritual growth. Reading scripture the standard "church" (institutional "church", the real church is the Body of Christ,...all believers) way is overwhelming and stressful (to say the least). For me, I've found that spiritual growth increases when I "put it aside" because I HEAR God's spirit as a personal devotion/relationship in my life ("...that God may be everything to everyone", not SAME to all, 1 Corinthians 15:28, for your "own little way").
