For whatever it's worth, it's always a good idea to mail things via Certified, Return Receipt if the documents are of an Official Nature - sending in a complaint, communications with uncooperative ex-spouses, etc. In this way, there is a record of the original message, the attempt to deliver, and the receipt of the document.
