I am not sure what you mean by atheism being institutionalized in schools - can you explain further? Secularism, yes, but that is a very different matter. I don't recall being taught to NOT belive in God when I was in school. Yes, I was taught
Science and evolution, and not creationism (which I pretty much got from Sunday school), but as someone who believes in evolution, I can assure you that I am not an atheist. The 2 are not necessarily mutually exclusive.
Also, I can't argue with the notion that atheism is behind strife, as is religion. But isn't that just 2 sides of the same coin (religion vs anti-religion) which again, I find to be completely different than secularism, which is neutral to the subject of God. However, I do see that those who would like a Christian-based govt. see secularism as leaning towards atheism, and those who are staunch atheists will tend to see secularism as siding more with the religious. True secularism should allow for both extremes and all points in between - just simply not in govt.
