Re: Honest suggestions, please
BTW...I just wanted to add that I really am aware of manufacture's hype on "food groups" BUT there is a reason that human's are both meat and plant compatable. Every food group has a purpose. They need to be introduced in proper portions for all the benefits of each to work. They REALLY do all work together to make the body run effecianly. Each also may have a downfall, but another group will take care of these downfalls and use ONLY the good stuff....see what I'm getting at? So even though red meats have horrible side effects, when eaten with all the other groups, you will not have these build ups. Actually apples are one of the foods known to handle liver build up. (this statement is incase you were thinking about that! lol)
Just as a little on the side. My 15 year old son, who I have just reinstated this diet with, wound up having a GREAT craving for apples after doing this for a couple days. He is a child so I do not need to LIMIT his intake, just make sure what he IS eating is healthy....not junk. He wound up eating a 1/2 a banana for dinner, but ate 4 APPLES for his late snack!! The next day he had a little tummy ache, wound up going to the potty and you would NOT belive what came out! It scared him, that's why I SAW it!!lol I researched a bit and found that it was actualy an "apple enema" that people REALLY use!! Eat 4 to 6 apples before bed and WALLA!! Anyhow, my son said he feels really good! He expelled a bunch of fat and I dunno what!! Probably all the junk food he had been so into for so long. But he is actually eating only good snacks now. He will grab fruit or veggies instead of chips and that with out me telling him!!
OH yes and if you would like a full explaination of the ADA diet and list of exchanges for ALL foods you can contact your local hospital and ask for the Diabetic Education department or a dietician (which is harder to find than the later)They will send you info. if you ask. The Education department here is wonderful about that. I will give you the number incase you don't have the same resources there. (716)373-2600 ask for the Diabetic Education Department.
