It works both ways, if you beleive in god, then the pursuit of knowledge is godly since you are gaining knowledge about god's universed. So it is Ungodly
If you don't believe in the existence of god, it remains ungodly. From this pov nothing can be ungodly, since there is no god.
The hyprocrisy is yours, since you are complaining about intitutions and their control, but then you make this determination that the pursuit of knowledge is ungodly. So, it not just intutions trying to exercise control.... You are too!
I never stated my position on God, I am only pointing out the reasoning flaws of your statments. Like the desire to be a "rugged individual" but following the most common belief, probably for no other reason that your were born into it. Secondly, the very aspect of God, automatically robs you of a claim, of individuality since you beliefvegod takes a major role in your everyday existence.
