Re: The institutionalized church?

This is an excellent observation and entirely true. I'd only add that it's not limited to the Church. The media in general imposes a kind of corporate collectivist attitude that subtly ridicules anyone that holds beliefs contrary to the official position of powerful organizations.

This is exactly why relativism is taught and enforced. How can you question authority or anyone else when truth is only in the eye of the beholder? If there isn't truth in any absolute sense, then an individual going against any organized consensus is simply character deficient. A square peg, an odd duck, a wacko, nutcase, a non-team player.

The worlds elite ingeniously recognized that if you get people to not believe that truth is something that exists, they have no leg to stand to challenge the consensus. And creating a consensus or the illusion of consensus is something the elite uniquely have the power to do. And with the mass media, they have more powerful tools to do it with than ever in history.

Don't question - be a team player - get along - what makes you think you're right if so many others believe otherwise? - your truth is just "your truth". In the Midwest, where the ridicule is mild, the insults that demean the most are - "an odd duck", "weird bird", "piece of work".

The US full of rugged individualists? The media keeps giving lip service to this myth so we don't see ourselves for who we are - pawns of the elite who are afraid of having or expressing (much less acting upon) our own ideas. Because our own ideas are invalid, dangerous or crazy the further they deviate from the norm or institutional consensus and could ultimately result in the forfeiture of our SUV's, custom homes, big screen TV's and self worth (that we spent plenty of money to get).

Anyway, I couldn't agree more, but I see the cause as having to do with media controlled social conditioning and engineering than any specific actions of the Church.
