ASK AND YOU SHALL RECEIVE!

In case you haven't seen it yet, there is now a Spirituality Forum ... that was a great suggestion that you made!

I have a couple of reactions to your post and also to the site you referenced...which I had seen previously.

First of all, accepting, welcoming or not resisting these experiences is not the same as encouraging them. When he speaks of encouraging them I believe he is talking about undertaking certain practices that will excelerate the process. This usually involves particular yogic, breathing or meditative practices. Since your experiences appear to be happening spontaneously, and since you have little understanding about this process I think it would not be wise for you to take any action that would further bring these experiences on. Because they are happening to you with no intentional effort, I would again suggest that you learn as much as you can about it in order to ease your fears and better understand what the process involves. If you read through the article that he referred you to on his site it states that fear is what can make this a dark experience. The more that you can relax into the experience the more positive it will be.

I would also say that I would not use this site as a basis for your understanding of kundalini energy. As acknowlegded in the article, there is little experience and understanding of kundalini energy in the Christian community. Although I realize this is your religious tradition, other traditions are far more knowledgeable and experienced with the kundalini process. Some Christian traditions believe very strongly that there needs to be an intermediary between individuals and direct spiritual experience. Such traditions would likely be opposed to practices that would stimulate such experiences.

Finally, I think a distinction needs to be made between religion and spirituality. While there may be some overlap, they are not the same. Religious traditions are the inventions of men. Spirituality is an innate aspect of our very being. Spiritual experiences occur independent of religions. This may or may not have been what he was suggesting in his comment that these experiences say nothing about religion.
