Re: Wierd problem, hard to explain, what could it be?
Hi Cathy,
I suggested looking into kundalini energy because it is one of the many pratices to elicit the sort of experiences you are having. Numerous others exist as well; Buddhist, Taoist, Sufi, various yogic practices and many types of meditation. As I said before, these energies can also become stimulated spontaneously. The fact that you had interests in various spiritual traditions indicates that you were already in tune with something even if you didn't follow it.
There are numerous accounts within the Catholic tradition of similar sorts of experiences. You might be interested in looking into the backgrounds of several saints...Joan of Arc, Theresa of Avila, and Hildegard de Bignen (sp?) to name a few.
Energy is energy...it really doesn't matter what tradition you follow. There are many who believe that Christ spent time studying several mystical traditions including those of the Egyptians and Buddhists. When you delve deeper into any religion you will find a mystical aspect of it, and there you will see that all religions are maps that point in the same direction and, at the core, are not as different as they appear on the surface. Joseph Campbell contributed greatly to this understanding and did a wonderful job of comparing the many different religious traditions. You may find some of his work very interesting, too.
