Re: 100 year-old man shares vitamin c health wisdom

Dear MH,
I think I get your point about vit. C. But do we have a choice?
In a cold climate we can not get enough vitamin C from natural sources the whole year through. Depending on the -local- food products - winter in Holland -, I probably would get scurvy. (I had latent-scurvy before).
So I'm very lucky to be able to buy vitamin C (500 mg).
There are other factors playing a role in effectness of vitamin C.
Inside the body and outside the body.
Two years ago I was eating a more than one kilogram oranges per day, but stil my gums were bleeding... Radiation of food happens.
Inside the body, the protein(s) to bind vitamin C must be activated.
High blood sugar-level makes Vitamin C unable to get into the body. Etc.
If I do not take vitamin C, I get ill, even when I ate 6-10 fruits a day.
So what is commen sense?
