Re: Truth vs. cessationism

"I think we are wanting Ed to show more grief and a desire to fast and pray for these people instead of his cavalier attitude about it all. I don't know Ed all that well and don't know if it's just his personality of not fretting over it like we do, or that he is just in protection mode of his other charismatic beliefs that are being addressed at the same time."

I'm not fretting over all this. I know God is in control. I am sad about it, as I've said before, just as I'm sad about so many other things happening in this sinful world. I long for things to be made right, which will happen as you said, only when Christ returns! Seeing the majority of professing Christians fall right into all this stuff makes me sad. And it also doesn't feel great to be despised by lots of people when you stand up against it all. But Jesus was a man of sorrows, very despised and rejected, and I know I haven't experienced hardly one sliver of what he went through.

Isaiah 53:3
He was despised and rejected by men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief; and as one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

I don't think it has anything to do with Ed's personality that he doesn't seem to care much about the danger of the NAR, etc. I just don't think he sees it as a danger at all, except for the small bit of error he sees which is totally insignificant in comparison to demonic cessationism. That's the real threat he sees and that's all he cares to expose. His mind is made up on what the real danger is and he's made it clear that it wouldn't matter one iota what evidence I or anyone else came up with, no matter how clear it was in showing the demonism of this group, it wouldn't change his mind. Heck, even them saying with their own mouths that it will be great to join with the Catholics, means nothing to him.

But that's where I'm different than Ed on my position. I am a cessationist but if you show me that some other cessationist is demon possessed, or joining up with the Catholics, or teaching very false doctrines (like many of the Churches of Christ that are cessationists but teach very false doctrines) you aren't going to see me recommending those people or being opposed to warnings against them at all! In fact, I'll help spread the warnings! :)
