Re: Truth vs. cessationism

Thank you for answering and clarifying. I had pretty much figured out that what all you said here was where you stood, but it really helps to get it clarified.

I do see all this in black and white because when Jesus said there would be wolves, false prophets, and false apostles, etc. and what to do when we find them, he was being black and white. He didn't just say to be aware but also realize you have errors too so don't get too strong about this stuff. No, he said RUN, EXPOSE, WARN OTHERS! We can't do that if we aren't being black and white and speaking about all this in grey tones.

We can see what the gifts of the spirit were in the bible. We can see how they worked, what their purpose was, etc. And then anyone that has eyes to see, can see that the tongues, prophecies, and healings in the NAR and Word of Faith groups are counterfeit gifts. And the bible is really clear, if you give a false prophecy, you are a false prophet! Period, the end, no ifs or butts, no grey areas with this, it's black and white. And these leaders constantly give false prophecies. So they are false prophets, plain and clear! And we are told never to join up with a false prophet, but RUN, EXPOSE, and WARN others.

And no, I really can't separate the false doctrines of the gifs of the Spirit such as tongues, prophecy, healing etc. being for today with all the rest of this. It does go together. But I honestly did try to avoid that in the beginning with all these discussions (I'm talking about when they all first started, a couple of years ago or so) but nevertheless, I was automatically accused of being a cessationist just because I called these wolves, false prophets, and apostles out. All I kept saying was that what these people were showing was not the true gifts I was seeing in the bible, and their false teachings, false prophecies, etc. confirmed that. I was not arguing the point that the gifts had ceased period. But nevertheless, this became the issue, that I was a cessationist, and nothing else I said mattered.

Having said all that, I do believe the reason people are falling so headlong into all this is because they have a false doctrine about the gifts of the Spirit such as tongues, prophecy and healings still being used today. Take John Piper for example. His other doctrines do not match these people he is holding hands with! It makes no sense for him to be joining with these people EXCEPT for that he is a Continuist, and he thinks these gifts of tongues, prophecy and healings are still being used today. And so he can't see through all this. It's his Continuism that is leading him headlong into all this without a clue. And who is falling for the NAR and Word of Faith leaders more than anyone else in the world? All the Continuists! If they are the ones with the true doctrine about the gifts of the Spirit such as tongues, prophecies and healing being still in use today, then why is God allowing them above all people, to be the most deceived by all of this?

So I think it's needed to talk about the whole truth with all of this, and not leave parts out just because people will disagree with me.
But regardless, from past experiences, I know it doesn't matter what I try to avoid or leave out. It won't matter. I'm a demonic cessationist, the end. lol
