Isnt iodoral , Lugols etc all nonsense then?????

Iodine turns into Iodide when taken with food or ascorbic acid.

But then again the body (certain tissues) turns Iodide into Iodine when needed.

I really dont see the sense for expensive iodoral or Lugols anymore.

What am i missing here?????
