Re: YOU MUST BE BORN-AGAIN To Enter Into Heaven
It's not a bad video, but it is always a bit frustrating for me to hear people preaching the 'truth' that obviously are actually just preaching their opinion. This guy is saying a bunch of different things that don't have specific meanings. First he says being born again is being born of the Spirit; personally, I do agree with this definition of being born again. That is the second baptism of the Holy Spirit, this is the complete death and rebirth, your old life is burnt away with fire and nothing of you remains.
However, he goes on to say that being born again is a spiritual experience. Well that is very generic and cannot be defined and a very poor description of being born again. He also says something about our heart being turned from stone to flesh, again doesn't mean anything, just spouting nonsense.
As far as I am concerned, there are only two acceptable definitions of being born again. One is receiving the second baptism of the Holy Spirit, which is basically what the guy in the video is saying, even though he calls it 'being born of the Spirit'. There is only one birth of the Spirit and very few individuals on this earth have received or will receive the second baptism of the Holy Spirit, and this individual is very unlikely to have received this gift.
The second possible definition of being born again is to follow the basic steps of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. That is faith in Christ, repentance for our past sins, accepting the grace of Christ's sacrifice into our hearts, and constant vigilance in our life. None of these things are mentioned in the video and for 99.9% of Christians, this is the only thing that they should ever ponder or preach.
It is very untrue and misleading to state that we must have a spiritual experience or feel something special in order to be saved. In fact, it is very possible that many people will never feel a dramatic change in their hearts but will be saved due to their faith and repentance. All of us can feel at least the small hintings of the Holy Spirit that tells us we are on the right track.
As far as I am concerned, this is the only thing that Biblical Christians get right are the steps to salvation. Faith in Christ, repentance, accepting Christ into our hearts, and constant vigilance for the rest of our lives in these steps.
