Perhaps the Morgellons organism forms a relationship with certain coinfections. Through horizontal gene transfer the Morganism causes symptoms like skin artifacts to manifest. This common symptom set is best described as Morgellons Syndrome.

In hosts without these coinfections, the omnipresent fibers work as they evolved, or were designed to, without being noticed by the host. No, Carnicom's work isn't peer-reviewed. However, bear in mind that the among peer-reviewed Morgellons research the incidence of lyme disease is 0% and near-100% among Morgellons sufferers.
