Fecal Breath - TMAU Condition
Hi there,
I have experienced the same medical condition for the past 13 years. I am 38 years of age and weigh 53 kilos. I am healthy however I suffer from anxiety due to this medical condition.
I have had the following tests/checks:
Tonsils - removed;
Endoscopy/Colonoscopy 10 years ago - everything was fine/normal.
Dentists - many times over the years and everything is normal.
Breath Tests - Hydrogen and Methane - results came back that I produce hydrogen and have intolerances to Sorbitol, Xylitol and Mannitol - which are effectively natural sweetners and are in a lot of fruits, chewing gums, mouth washes etc. My breath tests for sucrose and glucose came back normal.
Ear, Throat and Nose Specialist confirmed everything is fine/normal;
Numerous blood tests over the years all coming back average;
Bowel - everything is healthy;
I have spent hours and hours over the years researching this terrible, embarrassing condition. It's true, nobody understands what we are going through however we need to remain resilient. Stay strong and be positive as we will fine a cure/a way to decrease the problem.
I went in and had another endoscope completed a couple of weeks ago. I demanded the specialist test me for the following:
Leaky Gut Syndrome, H Pylori, Lufenurom and TMAU.
To be honest after researching TMAU, I believe this is my condition however I excrete a feces smell, not a fish odour. I'm waiting on my test results for the TMAU as it takes three (3) weeks. The test is just a urine test however it is a rare disorder so you may need to brief your Gastro Specialist on the disorder/condition.
The reason I feel I suffer from TMAU as my condition is worst when I eat red meat and fatty foods. I really notice when I eat oily foods and big meals, especially with red meat. I really feel quite sick when I eat fatty foods. I also believe it is coming from the stomach, nothing else can make your breath smell this way. It's obviously getting into the blood stream from the belly to the liver.
I'm interested to see if anybody else has looked into TMAU.
In the meantime I will continue to go vegetarian, eating lots of fruits and vegetables, eliminating as much
Sugar as possible from diet and continuing with the probiotics.
