Re: High fat diet causes depression
Yes, I think a high fat diet does increase inflammation via a more leaky gut and a higher proportion of bad to good bacteria. The increased translocation of lipopolysaccharides (LPS) triggers the immune system to cause inflammation.
This topic doesn't directly relate to Candida, but I posted it because a lot of people, including myself, end up on a high fat diet as a consequence of reducing carbs that feed Candida.
I now believe the high fat, high protein, anti-Candida diet I have been on all these years has been very unhealthy. In particular, I think it has worsened my
Depression and brain fog. In trying to improve my Candida situation I have mucked up my bowel in the process. Leaky bowel and dysbiosis caused by high fat diet is just as bad as Candida.
Hopefully it is all reversible. I am making very gradual changes to my diet (one small change a week) to reduce fat and protein, and reintroduce healthy carbs (e.g. whole grains, root vegetables, fruit).
