Re: Meat-lovers may pack on the pounds

John,
the conclusion of the study you have just posted states.............
"These actions of the vitamin D3 compounds suggest that it may have potential therapeutic applications in Th1-mediated clinical situations such as autoimmunity and transplantation".

What I would dearly like to know is why you have such a basic lack of understanding in interpreting these conclusions.
D3 IS Immunosuppressive, but only in the CONTEXT of preventing the body from OVER-REACTING as in Autoimmune diseases and transplantation.
The words used are "THERAPEUTIC APPLICATIONS" of D3.

In other words, D3 is required from sunlight-exposure in optimal amounts as decided by the body, in regulating and modulating the Immune System; so, in the absence of sufficient sunlight-exposure (the vast majority of us) supplementation is advised in obtaining optimum levels in optimizing the Immune System to its fullest extent.

I don't know about you, but I could not afford to lie in the Sun everyday (with the very limited direct Sunshine we have here in the UK) in achieving these optimum levels.

Why oh why John do you suppose that the vast majority of people tested for their Vitamin D status are actually found to be deficient in D3, opening the door to a myriad of life-threatening diseases.

If your desire is to be deficient, then that is to your detriment, but it is not something that should be publicized in promoting a D3 deficiency and the very real potential of encouraging the widespread development of serious and life-threatening diseases.

Your actions and beliefs (if believed and acted upon) could easily be construed in the future, as mass and involuntary manslaughter on an unprecedented scale.
