Haven't we had this discussion again and again already? Vitamin D3, Trevor Marshall, Amy Proal, the Marshall agenda and protocol . . . .
As I said, we have had this discussion before. The so-called vitamin D scam that Marshall heavily publicizes just happens to be essential to the promotion of his protocol and his financial interests.
It is misleading to call Vitamin D3 immuno-suppressive when it is actually immuno-modulatory. Vitamin D3 is a natural substance and the vast majority of studies indicate that supplementation can be beneficial for the vast majority of people. Studies also indicate that the majority of people are deficient in Vitamin D3. They also indicate that the very large majority of people are also deficient in magnesium, which is another natural item that is immuno-modulatory. Thus, for those people who are unable to get adequate sunshine and who are unable to get enough magnesium in their diets, I very much favor supplementing those items, in reasonable amounts, the same as I do any other nutritional deficiency which cannot be addressed by diet (which should be the first option, granted). Better that than having an unnaturally suppressed immune system or an unmodulated immune system which can turn itself on the body with devastating consequences.
why not take the high ground and stick with the positive studies about your beliefs and stop bashing what other people believe in. It doesn't suit you.
That is good advice for all of us to take, including those who are bashing Chris, who I consider to be one of the better members of this website. I may not always completely agree with Chris, but I certainly appreciate all of the great information and advice he has posted regarding fasting, Vitamin D3 and yes, the value of consuming plenty of healthy vegetables. I happen to know Chris rather well, and I can tell you right now that he has no untoward agenda nor is there one cent in financial motivation involved. He simply wants to share his experience, views and research to help people live longer, healthier and happier lives - the same as I do and the same as I wish everyone would do.
None of us have all the answers and our personal experiences, knowledge and beliefs vary widely. The only absolute truism is that good health is not a one-size-fits-all proposition. Naturally, many of us are likely to disagree on many issues. When we do, it would behoove all of us to try to do it civilly.
My two cents.
If one backtracks up this thread, the ones who started the bashing here is quite clear - and it wasn't Chris. Whether friends or not, bashing is uncalled for and is usually the last resort of someone who lacks the knowledge or ability to defend their position civilly and logically.
What is wrong with the idea of having a discussion where people state their views and post supporting information in just a couple of posts or so without arguing ad infinitum and degenerating into baiting and bashing? At the end of the day, those who do so and hold themselves above the fray are more likely to stand out than the ones entangled in the mire.
Is mom gonna be here soon!
If she were, she might give you a deserved time-out for not playing well with others.
As you know, I think that consumption of at least some meats is healthy and natural. However, there are problems with meat besides the ones attributed in the popular studies that people quote (studies which we have established include unhealthy people and unhealthy processed meats, and hormone and antibiotic laced meats) as well as the moral problems from the inhumane practices in the meat industry. Foremost of those problems are toxins, which tend to accumulate in animal fats. Two of the most dangerous and most prevalent ones are dioxins and glyphosphates.
As you know, dioxin was a key deadly component of Monsanto's infamous Agent Orange herbicide. Glyphosphate was another dangerous component which shares many of the same health dangers. Though dioxin levels are slowly declining, they are still far, far too high and they are everywhere, particularly in beef, dairy and fish. Glyphosphate compounds, on the other hand, are increasing and have already found their way into most of our food chain and food products.
Glyphosphate is almost synonymous with Monsanto's herbicide Roundup, which actually is even more toxic than glyphosphate alone thanks to other chemicals it contains. Roundup is now sprayed at the rate of hundreds of millions of gallons onto most of our corn, soy and canola increasing amounts of our wheat and alfalfa. In addition to a long list of health dangers from glyphosphate and Roundup, recent studies have found that transgenetic material and their activators from GMO foods are making their way into human gut bacteria, with as yet largely unknown consequences.
That tells me that there is a good reason to not go too heavy on the animal fats and that trimming some of the fat away in the meat we do consume is probably a good idea. It also tells me that it is a good idea to make sure that seafood comes from deep, cold and clean waters as much as possible. On the other hand, if one trades their seafood and meat fat for GMO vegetables they may be getting nearly as healthy of a trade-off as they thought they were. Thanks to man's chemical compounds, even organic meats, vegetables and dairy are not toxin-free, but they surely beat the alternatives.
The main problems with meats, the same as is true with vegetables, are toxins and other man-created problems. Rather than focusing so much on generalized health dangers pointed to by studies that are for the most part inherently flawed, I would much rather see more discussion about the dangers of toxins and other man-created problems. There are lots of reasons to keep the focus off such problems and instead just make general associations about the health dangers of meats - and every one of those reasons has a dollar sign attached to it.
BTW, for general information: some good natural toxin removers are chlorella, cilantro, parsley, apple pectin, iodine and bentonite clay. I believe you will also find that Vitamin D3 plays a role in helping the body's natural toxin removal processes too.
