Re: Nutritional Treatment of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
Mr. Plesman.
It looks like we all agree then that both biological and psychological aspects need to be explored for complete healing of ptsd. When you originally posted you did not seem to imply this, and so the misunderstanding..? I do understand that you deem the biological aspect as foremost of importance. With regards to PTSD especially, I just personally think that both should be taken on at the same time.
I did take some time to read several of your articles from the link you provided. I found them very interesting and I think I am understanding a little better where you are coming from. Still being a layperson, it is hard to digest all in one sitting.. A lot of what you write does sound reasonable to me. As far as origins of disease, I am still not sure I agree. I also have a hard time with the hypoglycemia assessment of the article on sexual abusers/convicts.
Now to me.. My own trauma is not over. I would imagine that my ptsd from a psychological point of view is still active.. In therapy I have been working hard not only processing the traumas, but learning new personal skills (which I never learned because of childhood abuse)in being able to face my perps again. It may come to a time (whether that decision is made by me,or not) that I never can, or will. It would be interesting to see if my ptsd symptoms would immediately vanish, if that happened.
I had a look at the Hypoglycemia Diet which was one of the several links to your articles.. It is very similar to what I am eating.. I have always eaten well. I never eat sugar, processed foods, junk food. I take my supplements, all the b's, zinc etc..
I also did your hypoglycemia test . I know that it can't be an accurate test compared to the GTT because I had some problems answering some questions. My score anyway was 65, which is just a little over borderline and into some likelihood.
I have a question regarding the Glucose Tolerance Test to test reactive hypoglycemia. Is this a blood test? Is this done in a lab or hospital? What is a glucose load and how is it done? I would like to take this test. My medical will pay for it.. Looking at the instructions I know this is not the same test for hypoglycemia I had done previously 2x. What the heck, I will give it a try and see what comes out! Thanks.
In conclusion, I would like to know what your answer is to those who have healed themselves (like 107689) of PTSD without treating hypoglycemia? I am still hanging on to the theory that ultimately the brain rules the body. Heal the mind, and you heal also the body. Of course, good nutrition helps a lot! I read once in a book by Dr. Don Colbert that our emotions are a lot more toxic than any food or substance. You may not believe, but in the Bible there is a verse that says "As a man thinketh so is he". And there are more verses about fear and anxiety than anything else in the Bible. Back then there wasn't any junk food, processed sugar, chemicals and pollutants yet people were really no different than today.
One last story. I was watching a DVD on Gary Craig's EFT. I think that's where I saw it!? Anyways, there was this one woman explaining how she had cancer. She was considered terminal. It came to her attention one day that she had a lot unforgiveness towards several people in her life - past and present. She spent the next day(s) tapping away and forgave everyone who had hurt her. When she had her next cancer test done, she had no cancer. It was gone!
We are very complex emotional, physical, and let us not forget - spiritual beings.. My wheels are forever churning..
