I've done quite a few fasts over the past couple of years. I usually go for 3 to 7 days. My longest went for 15 days. Mainly I get to day 4 and give in to hunger or boredom (mostly boredom!). I've also failed on Day 1 more times than I can count. It's so easy to slip up and say you'll begin again tomorrow so try to avoid that!
Like you, I have recently ended a fast. I was on Day 4 until unexpected guests showed up and brought some food to share. I didn't want to seem impolite so I broke my fast and ate with them.
I don't have a whole lot of tips to share that you probably don't already know. Day 1 is the toughest to get past. Day 2-4 you will probably not be feeling too great so I advise plenty of rest.
Time seems to crawl by during fasting. Try to distract yourself with fun things to do. Avoid stressful situations. Sleep whenever you need to even if it's more than normal. Keep track of your detox symptoms. Remember, no matter how bad you feel during the fast you are cleansing your body of toxins and poisons and you will feel amazing if you see through to the end!
