Re: Iodine and Constipation, gut flora
you know, Kim che is too spicy for me, but I have tried making my own cultured veggies and have bought some really good ones. They ALL give me tremendous gas, even the ones with minimal cabbage. I keep trying to eat them anyway, and thank god I work at home.
I used to make my own kefir and would sometimes double ferment it. I couldn't keep up with that, but found that Bio-K dairy culture worked wonders for me - for awhile. That effect for whatever reason seems to have worn off, and I can't really afford it anyway,
The new gyno I went to recommended a product which I bought in his office from orthomoleculars, a powdered acidophilus. I am trying it, but it's only been a few days. So far I'm not noticing much. I have not taken
parasite herbs in a couple of years (only homeopathics), so I started one from Quantum Nutrition which is supposed to be particularly beneficial for clearing them out of the liver and gallbladder, which felt right to me. I don't know how much supplementing with probiotics and fermented foods is going to help if I'm taking bug-killers, though, and if the
Iodine is having an
Antibiotic sort of effect (which I guess is still in question).
Maybe Dr. Brownstein can shed some light on this when I see him in 2 months. In the meantime I guess I'll just have to do lots of vit.-C and herbs, whatever I have to to keep things moving. It's been quite a few years since I've been this stopped up, and not liking it!
