Re: --answer--Big Government--
"God puts governments in place and the USA still has the blessing of having say with our votes and with our actions. As long as we have say, we should use it correctly by making laws that would mirror God's commandments. If Love is the commandment one lives by, then that should also reflect in one's voting and decision making in government."
But the government uses force to create obedience. In this way it is a form of slavery even in the most democratic of societies. Love sets people free. God uses truth to set people free. Lobbying the government to create a law to force people to be moral is very different from the way that God works. God changes people's hearts. Creating laws enforced by police and military controls people through fear of imprisonment and eventually creates resentment and revolution.
There are those who claim the Bible as the infallible word of God that have a very different sense of what the Bible says than you do. They extract a different morality from the Bible than you do. In the past they have used passages out of context to justify slavery, segregation, and even genocide. Governments acting on what they claimed was God's moral authority have been responsible for the Crusades, the Spanish Inquisition, and the Holocaust.
This is what can happen when the people insist that the government be the authority that enforces a certain moral conduct.
Let Caesar be Caesar and let God be God.
