When the commandments of God (carved by God Himself) were smashed by Moses after witnessing the people and the golden calf. Moses was then put in the position to "work" and carve the stone for the second time himself.
Much like Adam and Eve being forced out of the Garden of Eden because of their sin, they then had to "work" to have food and shelter.
Our rebellion (like you said) was wanting a king and not being led by God and is the cause and effect of "work" in government today.
Where you and I differ in beliefs on this issue, is that you believe that if the world would just come to a Christ conscienceness together, we will be able to solve our problems if we are one minded. We already had that chance and blew it.
You can't help but see the pattern that much of the problems that we have brought on ourselves are due to rejecting God and His leadership in our lives. This is why we must endure to the end and make the best of things until Jesus returns and brings order and Truth to our world. We will then be back to having the hand of God leading us....but of course this goes back to the question, do we believe in the deity of Christ Jesus and do we believe the prophecies that tell us how it will all come about?
