Omega 3 causing agitation/anxiety/Insomnia
I have had a bit of a breakthrough today that I wanted to share. I have been taking EPA for two years now, since all the hype about it relieving
Depression and anxiety. Strangely over this time I have had increased general anxiety and sleeplessness, until lately I've beeen having unbearable chronic insomnia.
I have tried to think of everything that could be causing this. I take a lot of supplements for adrenal fatigue and for general health. I have tried cutting out vit B-complex as I know it can be stimulatory etc etc. Anyway, to cut a long story short - I have just been down with a dose of gastric flu (yuk), and as a result didn't take any of my usual supplements for three days as I could keep anything down. I was however sleeping more soundly....Yesterday I was feeling a little better, so I took a few fish oil caps - and was awake nearly all night, in a state of agitation, it was awful.
I have since researched that taking Omega 3s can actually CAUSE insomnia/anxiety etc - I can't believe it! I thought it would be the most harmless supplement to take! But apparently if you take more than the optimum dose your body requires, you can get these side effects as it is an energiser!! Has anyone else had this?
