Thanks for editing and adding the info on the
breastplate of Aaron. There was great respect
for gems and minerals and this is why they were
considered great gifts. It is easy to see that
many think that decorative use of gems in crowns
and breastplates etc. were for looks only, but
it was believed, and rightly so, they conveyed
other sensitivities to the user.

Fortunately, enough of this information has survived
that we are able to use stones today in a similar
manner.
