Thanks for all that, quite alot to think about. I will look into it. Quick update. I took avg 7-9000IU for 6 weeks, tested at 49 (25 OH D). This follows the dose response curves very nicely that I had posted originally here. I guess I am fortunate that I am not like the person that took over a year to get the levels up. Will test again in a week, with 3.5 hrs plus sun exposure over the past week, and 10,000 IU per day on recent weeks with no sun exposure, I should be in the 60-65 range. Latest test 49ng/ml (at 7 weeks 7-10,000 IU) I’m doing noticably better across the board! yay, provided I keep doing everything else on my agenda properly. My doctor and most references say to take it with the evening meal. I had been taking it 2000iu at lunch and 5000iu at dinner as sort of a compromise thinking I should spread it out. Jilly, I wonder why it took SO long 10,000 iu/day for a year is a heck of alot. Continue at 10,000 while at 70 sounds like maybe not the best advice, but that’s just me. I would say reduce to 5000 for 6 weeks and retest. By no means listen to me however. Vitamin D toxicity scares me a little. These things are strange, I bet we are ahead of science on this. There was a study I saw that showed much more absorption into the blood when people took vitamin D with a meal that has fat or oil in it, rather than taking the vitamin D with just a carb snack with no fat or oil. A very very good book to read on the subject is: ASCORBATE: THE SCIENCE OF VITAMIN C by Dr Steve Hickey who has a PhD in Medical Biophysics from the University of Manchester, and his co author Hilary Roberts.
