Re: The Devil, satan, Lucifer, son of perdition...all the same.

The following is the footnote in the Amplifies Bible regarding  the name "Lucifer".

Amplified Footnote Isaiah 14:12 The Hebrew for this expression--"light-bringer" or "shining one"--is translated "Lucifer" in The Latin Vulgate, and is thus translated in the King James Version. But because of the association of that name with Satan, it is not now used in this and other translations. Some students feel that the application of the name Lucifer to Satan, in spite of the long and confident (man made traditions-my comment) teaching to that effect, is erroneous. The application of the name to Satan has existed since the third century A.D., (but not before-my comment) and is based on the supposition that Luke 10:18 is an explanation of Isa. 14:12, which many authorities believe is not true. "Lucifer," the light-bringer, is the Latin equivalent of the Greek word "Phosphoros," which is used as a title of Christ in II Pet. 1:19 and corresponds to the name "radiant and brilliant Morning Star" in Rev. 22:16, a name Jesus called Himself. This passage here in Isa. 14:13 clearly applies to the king of Babylon.
There is no way the word "Lucifer", knowing it's proper meaning can ever be associated with satan. The Mormons have taken it a step further by saying that Lucifer is the brother of Jesus because of this tradition. Wow! Prov. 14:12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. Matt. 15:7 Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying, 8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. 9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.  Mark 7:13 Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye.

Read the section on Is. 14. Study the cheribums, there's nothing about them that represent the doctrinal concept of satan. Satan is a spirit, not a tangible, material thing that can turn into dust. Oh how hard it is to let go of the "man-made" doctrines we have been brainwashed into believing. But Thank God today we have access to so much: ancient writings, Greek and Hebrew Lexicons, and many different Bible translations, making research much easier. But above all this, we have to let the Spirit lead and teach us.
