I agree these tests can be wrong or they just don't know everything about transmission yet. I'd had chlamydia and gonorrhea as a youth (and, not exactly a wild one), got successfully treated for these, had NEGATIVE tests and then the next year - after having had NO sex with anyone in between times... tested positive and had to be treated again.
