changing attitude/perspective is also "delete/cancel" because it may cancel out the emotional attachment.

When my hair looks bad because I haven't got time to wash it, ... and have to get the kids to school and walk the dog, all I do is put on my favourite hat .. look in the mirror and say "cool" that's a cancelling of sorts :-)
