This last post brings up an interesting cross-cultural discussion. In some cultures contact with another person by mouth is deemed very very undesirable ( downright disgusting if you like) probably from the health point of view and the passing on of all kinds of bacteria . Lets face it...it is not healthy by any stretch of the imagination. The Maori people of New Zealand greet each other by the gentle rubbing of noses , others by the shaking of hands, others by an upward show of their palms to indicate they are friends and conceal no weapons...and so on. It is worth noting that from an anthropological point of view , the 'white 'man has totally devastated many communities and cultures around the world through his careless way of living ,by spreading all manner of diseases into communities who never had ill health before, but who , until the arrival of the 'saviour', the white man. had mostly lived according to the laws of nature. The white man has much to pay for, including dragging remote communities into the 21st century ("for their own "good!), when they were already perfectly happy and healthy living as they had been for hundreds if not thousands of years.
